Mary Chapin Carpenter [Stones In The Road]

What an album this is, it's perfection as a Singer-Songwriter, this is her best disc by far, the way she marries real tunefulness and words, and creates them into soul and passion is incredible, she is one of these Artists that can so easily give you a lump in the throat, like others turn the tap on, and yet it's the words that catch you, and the tunes nod their approval, she's a Poet first, and a Songstress second.

The first half of the album is more upbeat and rockier songs, but the second half turns introspective, and this is where Carpenter's true magic lies, my favourite tracks on this listen were 10 & 13.

Track 10 'Jubilee' is so very perfect, the words 'And i can tell by the way you're searching, for something you can't even name', sums up my feelings exactly, it's hard to talk about a track that really can't be put into words.

Here's a little segment of a performance on YouTube by Mary with her Band on this track, plus discussing the members and unity of the Band.
